Paparazzi Ban at Defcon 13

by Eric Schwartzman

The debate between privacy and free speech is underway, blogs Jason Calcanis from Defcon 13, where organizers told participants not to take pictures of anyone without getting their permission first.

“An organizer went off a long tirade about not taking pictures of the speakers or audience without their permission and that the press would have their film taken if they did.”

But seeing as how the A.P. is almost now totally digital, as are most mainstream photojournalists, they’d have to confiscate the flash card instead. Still, given the extremes paparazzi go to shoot celebs — if there’s money to be made — no doubt there’ll be shooters who disrespect the ban.
