Can’t Afford the Bandwidth? Consider Podcast Audio Submissions.

by Eric Schwartzman

Bandwidth is Expensive. Consider Contributing to Existing Podcasts Instead of Launching Your Own.

This one comes from Dave Hamilton of The Mac Geek Gab Podcast, who appeared on our podcasting panels.

“Blogs are cheap to produce because the bandwidth is so minimal because you’re just sending text and some little graphics, well as soon as you start doing a podcast or video blog your bandwidth costs go through the roof and as soon as itunes 4.9 came out our podcast grew twenty fold, and our bandwidth bill grew twenty fold…that’s been one of the biggest hurdles…the hundred bucks to get set up is nothing compared to what its going to cost when you’ve got twenty thousand people who want to download this thing every week. You can bypass all that by finding people that already have an audience. Send in your little clip. It’s only costing you the bandwidth to email it once, and they distribute it.”
